KEVIN TAYLOR
|
Kevin has played drums for over 30 years in a wide range of live and studio settings. He was an All-State percussionist from the Clear Lake area in the mid 70s and has since loaned his talents to a number of projects in both large and small venues/studios in Texas, Louisiana, Florida and Georgia. Kevin's powerful drumming came to the Grangers by way of Bob's extensive contacts gained throuout the years with such groups as Slow Children, and Bone Simple. Bob often used Kevin as a studio musician on several projects through the years. The reason for Kevin's high demand is clear when listening to his work on "The Grangers," CD. Kevin also brings to the table a professional attitude toward working and arrangement. He often directs rehearsals to a final, productive conclusion. These attributes are also evident in the arrangement of some of the material on The Grangers debut CD, although it may only be evident to those of us who survived the extensive labor and birth of the material. There are times I feel sorry for Kevin because he usually has to teach the rest of us hackers some music theory along the way. Kevin can chart, play or program drum and percussion parts/loops for any musical style but hates to CATEGORIZE music. Just like food he likes all different kinds !!!!!! especially Cajun. Musical influences: Led Zepplin, Pat Travers, Queen, Kansas, Rush, Beatles, Stones, CSN&Y, ZZ Top, Stevie RayVaughn, Steely Dan, Four Play, and anything that Jeff Porcaro played drums on. Drumming influences: John Bonham, Neil Peart, Steve Gadd, Jeff Porcaro, Jim Keltner, Bernard Purdie, Billy Cobham and Charlie Watts. |

BUDDY CORBETT
|
As reahearsals turned into public performances, Kevin asked for some help in laying down a solid rhythm. He brought to rehearsals a bass player; Buddy. Kevin knew Buddy through a number of projects they have worked on together. Buddy, like Kevin, has an extensive background and knowlege of music theory and arrangement. Believe me when I tell you he has saved many of the songs on The Granger CD from the trash can. His arrangement talents compliment those of Kevin's in such a way that the music is not only fun to play, but also extremely interesting for the audience to hear. Together, Buddy and Kevin are the concrete foundation for The Grangers' hard driving americana style. Their creativity lends new twists to the arrangements of some of their cover classics such as Van Morrison's "Wild Nights," and CCR's "Fortunate Son." |

JEFF LUCHSINGER
|
Jeff became interested in the guitar after hearing Neil Young's debut solo effort by the same name. He thought, "I can do that." Little did he know, right? The seemingly easy but difficult Neil Young didn't put Jeff off of the guitar. Jeff stayed with it, determined to come up with what he heard in his head. Working in relative seclusion for 30 years he achieved his objective. A simplified version of his style can be heard in, "True West," on the Grangers' debut CD.
If you would like a taste of some more of Jeff's music go to: Jeff's Site. More music will be added as space permits.
The unusual thing about all of this is that Bob and Jeff, being blood brothers, never thought of playing together. One day it all flashed, and now the world has The Grangers. Their music compliments each other very well. After throwing in Buddy and Kevin, you get a unigue quality of sound not heard in the Bay Area for quite some time. |

BOB WALL
|
Bob, the architect of The Grangers, has been playing guitar publically for the last 30 years. Much of that time was spent with his good friend, Ruel Russell. Together they have undergone many incarnations; including, Russell, Spaeth and Wall, The Ozone Rangers, Slow Children and Bone Simple, to name a few. Following the disbanding of Bone Simple, Bob set out on a solo endevour. He never stops playing! Bob adds a dimension to The Grangers' public performances that isn't usually seen in other acts of the Bay Area. He adds an infectious energy to, not only the performances, but the rehearsals as well. More often than not, if the other members didn't call out for a break, they wouldn't get one!

WELDON CORBETT
|
Weldon comes to the Grangers by way of his brother, Buddy. He studied under Texas guitar legend Dale Hull.
He has what all good musicians have, and that is a variety of influences. His style of play is a result of various influences by any number of artists from just about every genre. They include, but of course are not limited to, country, rockabilly, and rock and roll. He was born with a guitar in his hand and Weldon grew up playing country, on through the blues and jazz to rock and roll...... to yes, the fortunate members of The Grangers. His variety of techniques spurs the other members of the group into styles of music they may not otherwise attempt. He continues to be a big fan of Chicago brand rhythm and blues and those influences shine through with his tasty licks heard in The Grangers' music. Weldon didn't join The Grangers until after their debut CD, so watch (or, rather listen) for him on the upcomming new CD. |
